Big Lots manager attacked, robbed

UNION-TRIBUNE BREAKING NEWS TEAM

7:40 a.m. November 18, 2008

EL CAJON – An employee of an El Cajon discount store was attacked Monday night by a robber armed with a knife who kicked her and hit her over the head with a computer.

The man went into the Big Lots store on East Main Street near 1st Street about 8:40 p.m. and knocked on a rear office door, said El Cajon police Lt. Jim Redman.

The assistant manger, who was inside counting the day's receipts, opened the door and the man attacked her, stealing about $7,000 cash, Redman said.

The robber was described as Latino or black, in his 30s, about 200 pounds and wearing all dark clothing.

Redman said the woman was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
